Über mich
Dear English speaking visitors,
please forgive me that this website is not fully translated into English. Not everything here makes sense in both languages - where-ever it does, I'm working on that. As long as it is not finished, feel free to ask whatever you may want to know.

Short Vita:
Claudia Fischer, born in 1966, holds a university degree in media education and works as a freelancer for German media (radio, tv, print, online, books) in Edinburgh/Scotland and Bielefeld/Germany.
Accreditations:
Being a freelancer it is hard to say, whom I work for. I offer Scottish stories mainly to
eleven German public radios, who are cooperating in the
ARD network.
Each of them is running
up to 13 waves on FM, medium wave or digital in the internet.
The network has not sent me to Scotland. I am here on my own account.
In Germany I worked for them since 1992 and experience shows, that they do take what I offer.
But unfortunately they will never give me a general confirmation for that. This is a
question of German public media politics.
So all I can do is ask you for general support to be able to offer my stories, and I will forward
you a special written request of any of the stations as soon as one says "Okay".
Scottish Vita:
Claudia Fischer was 16 years old, when a trip with fellow youngsters took her on her first visit to Aberdeenshire/Scotland. She absolutely fell in love with the beautiful countryside and kept in touch for 22 years with the familiy she had stayed with in 1982. In 2004 she followed her dream and went up there again, alone with her car and her dog, to visit the places and people of her memories. And it was a fabulous holiday: People so warm-hearted, countryside so stunning that she had to come back every year since then. In summer 2007 she was invited to take over the position of a former freelance Scottish correspondent for German media who went back to Germany after 9 years. Now she tries her best to make Scotland matter in Germany. She goes for a commuting life - some weeks in Bielefeld/Germany and some weeks in Edinburgh/Scotland.
German Vita:
Claudia Fischer was born in Bielefeld (central Germany) and went to school in a small town on the North
Sea coast. After finishing an
in-firm training as an accountant she went back to Bielefeld in 1987 and studied sociology
and media education (graduated in 1996).
In 1990 she started working as a freelance journalist for public broadcaster WDR in radio and tv.
She has published two books
(one about college radios and one about children and dogs), did longer researches about
ritual abuse,
was specialised on board games for many years, covered special aspects in German social
politics, data protection, journalism and trauma (together with
Dartcenter London)
and won a German journalism award "Wirtschaft vor Ort" (Business On-site) 2006, together
with her colleague and friend Silvia Bose.
She holds seminars for children and adults about the whole range of
media topics, covering college radios and interview trainings as well as parent's questions
about tv-consuming kids or personal creativity for professional media workers.
